Is it true? Did that really happen? Are they stupid? These were just some of the questions that fans of “The OC” asked themselves after the third season finale aired, in which one of the main characters, Marissa Cooper, was killed off the show. Certainly the departure of actress Mischa Barton has raised questions about the show’s future, season four’s storyline and the rumored cancellation of the show, as the FOX network had only ordered 16 episodes instead of the regular 22.
As one of the latest additions to the show, Autumn Reeser provides comedic relief as she plays the overachiever and Seth-obsessed Taylor Townsend. Speaking to the Loyolan one afternoon, Reeser shares her thoughts about the show’s much talked about cliffhanger, her cast members and her own college experience at UCLA.
KC: First off, there were a lot of rumors circulating before the finale aired pertaining to Marissa’s death. Were you surprised to read the script of the season finale?
AR: “Ben [McKenzie] and Mischa [Barton] were the only ones who read the script. I heard it only through the grapevine but I was shocked as well.”
KC: How was the cast’s attitude, yours included, when you found out Mischa would be moving on?
AR: “I was sad to see her leave but she’s a beautiful girl — she will have plenty of success down the road.”
KC: What can the fans look forward to in the fourth season?
AR: “It’s so good. People will be really happy about it because it’s realistic and the characters will deal with grief in their own subtle ways. However, there will be other storylines because people can’t just grieve forever. That’d be too boring, and life must go on.”
KC: Do you watch the show, and is it weird seeing yourself on TV?
AR: “It was weird the first time around, but now I do it regularly to help me learn my mistakes. I still get nervous every time.”
KC: Now that the O.C. kids are going to college, do you have any memories that stick out during your time at UCLA?
AR: “It was the busiest time of my life. My only free time would be when I would walk to my class and even then I was still trying to learn lines for plays that I would be auditioning for.”
KC: Did you enjoy going to college parties or were you very much like Taylor-academically focused?
AR: “I attended a frat party while in college and the whole time I was bewildered by guys wanting to get drunk to have fun.”
KC: Did acting permit you to obtain a degree at UCLA?
AR: “I was only three classes short of graduating. I want to hopefully take those three classes someday but it’s hard to fit it in the schedule, especially while I’m working on ‘The O.C.’”

what beans? there were know beans? loved the interview though. i love autumn too, damn she’s hot and taylor has become one of my fav characters now
that woz hardly spilling the beans there was about 3 questions about the oc. i wanted to know if its getting canceled at the end of this season or if Foz has ordered more episodes or not.
I hope there are more seasons to come after this one because I will miss the show if Fox takes it off-air. Even with Marissa gone, there can still be good storylines and there might not be as much drama since Marissa isn’t involved, but I’m still looking forward to many seasons in the future. I can’t get enough of the show.

what the hell was that? there were no spoilers or anything i thought they were going to give out spoilers about the 4th season
i dont think that they can kill of a character like marissa. she was a bff, a friend, someone loved her, a daughter, and social chair. i could go on and on. i dont think they can replace her. and i dont want theresa to become ryans gf cuz i dont like her. like ryan and marissa pretty much were the oc!!!

First of all, she didnt spill anything. Secondly, I like mischa way beta then autumn. Wouldn’t it be funny if her name was autumn in the show. All you’d need is spring n winter. haha. (that wasnt very funny) i dont think i like the ryan-taylor hook-up. Its too soon, marissa can never b replaced but da OC is makin a comeback after the dreadful s3. keep watchin. It aint half bad.

Dear, Autumn is so bloomin’ hot. Series Four O.C, i was hooked at all her scenes and just love her. I agree there weren’t many beans but still she’s hot and lovely. Mwah!
I agree with those saying The O.C. died when Marissa died. R&M where the hole show for me, and Marissa was my favourite character:(
