Fox Moves O.C. To Wednesday For One Night

It looks like The OC is in for the fight of it’s life with a poor showing for the first episode of Season 4. On Friday (Nov. 3), FOX began to shake things up, pulling two shows from its roster and making a move to try to save “The O.C.” Coming off the lowest rating World Series in history, FOX has seen freshman offerings “Justice,” “Standoff,” “Til Death” and “Happy Hour” come back to the schedule with viewership well below their season averages. In addition, Wednesday’s series premiere of British transplant “The Rich List” was rejected by viewers, while the fourth season premiere of “The O.C.” was unable to find traction against ABC’s “Gray’s Anatomy” and CBS’ “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” on Thursday.
Given the devoted service performed by “The O.C.” in recent years, FOX announced Friday that the season’s second episode, “The Gringos,” will air on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 9 p.m. ET after “Bones.” The following night, FOX will air another new “O.C.” episode, “The Cold Turkey,” in the same Thursday 9 p.m. slot where early estimates had the show bringing in under 3.4 million viewers this week. Althought FOX presents this as a one-week move, it’s expected that if “The O.C.” is able to deliver a better audience in the Wednesday hour, the show will make a permanent move to that night, where there may be more free-floating viewers after “Lost” goes on its upcoming hiatus.
Leading into the “O.C.” episode next Thursday will be a repeat of the comedy “Til Death,” following a new episode. Like “The Rich List,” “Happy Hour” has been removed from FOX’s schedule and the odds of the sitcom returning are low, particularly after it took a beating this week from The CW’s “Smallville.”

if i read that correctly. the oc second ep will be on next wednesday at 9, and the night after at 9. thats AWSOME, but ill have to tape thursday’s cause of a football game, GREAT NEWS, thanks

nobody can blame Josh for marissa death, he didn´t kill her.. she wants to leave the show!! so the people who think that with marissa death the show is doomed, and stopped watching are ass´s and beacause of those ass´s the ratings are low. Marissa was a alcoolic junky bitch than a love, but she want to leave, but now we have ryan to the max..old skool fighting ryan is back in action, seth and summer, sandy and kristen, julie and drºroberts all in the oc style and taylor is hot and funnier and more present and she´s Hot! So if you want to be a ass and stop whatching the show because of mischa free will to leave the show, fine! be a ass!

have you even seen the premiere? It beats the crap out of any other episode with Marissa in it..(except season 1). And the Gringos is amazing!!!
The premier was awesome, and I for one am sticking by The O.C. I was a total Ryan/Marissa fan, but Mischa is gone and we have to deal with that. Marissa was not the best thing about the OC, and I hope all the fickle fans who think she was will realize it’s not true and come back to the show we love and know so well.
alisha they didn´t kill marissa because they want to.. they kill her because misha barton wanted to leave the show to do more serious work, she wanted to go to the big screen.. and Josh have the ideia to do her death because it gaves more options and more dinamic for the 4 season, the idea o doing the 4 season without marissa (sailing on a boat) its just stupid. If you realy like Marissa(mischa) you will respect his decision of leaving the serie for making movies.. i´m sure that she want every1 to continue to see the show that make her the Marissa cooper he all know and love

eDu, mischa didn’t want to leave the show, the writers killed her off because they didn’t have anything left to do with her . you can read it in an interview.

I have been an oc fan since season one episode one and this first show of season four was good, but i was kind of disappointed. I wanted to see the funeral of marisa cooper and most of my friends that I talked to did too. I just think that it would have gotten better ratings. I would still like to see a funeral.

If you really are an O.C. fan, then you need to be more open-minded towards the death of Marissa(Mischa). I do wish they would have shown a funeral of some sort, I feel like they just took her away and want us to forget about her, but maybe they’ll pull in her character more in these next few episodes.
But we have to move on. She’s dead. This isn’t some supernatural show, she isn’t coming back from the dead. There’s a tombstone.

I actually recorded THE OC’s premiere episode on thursday and watched grey’s anatomy first. I absolutely LOOOOOOVED the season premier episode and cried through it. literally.

Well, as you know its kind of hard trying to compete with Grey’s Anatomy and CSI which are Veteran shows that are still doing really well. Not saying that the OC is not a veteran show…but in terms of age group and concept. But hey, at least we get 2 nights of new episodes in a row…yay!
i love the gringos ep, funnier than the avengers but still had plenty of drama with ryan and u know, julie. but the whole ____ was pushing it a little but it worked and i cant wait for the cold turkey. kaitlin’s storyline is ok but it doesnt suck. so far, nothing is wrong with season 4 and michael ausiello said that ep 3 and 4 are amazing so im looking forward to this thursday
One Tree Hill does need viewers aswell or it will get cancelled! Even though the eps are amazing it is off to a shakey start where ratings are concerned! I love both shows and want both of them to survive! I thought the premiere was good and that we r just gona have to learn to live without Marissa altho am too sad we didnt get a funeral or nething!! I agree with mwah2oC why not put it on a tuesday nite and then we can all be happy!
I think thats great news! I’m hoping the show gets moved permenately because Grey’s Anatomy is just too much competition. I’m worried The OC might get canceled if they don’t move it soon because Thursday’s ratings were way lower than last years.

noo….it can’t change over to wednesdays..I am a die hard fan and dont want to miss a episode, but i have class every wednesday at 7-10…I would be so upset if i was unable to watch the oc. As for the new season, my friends and i are in serious denial, we are praying for marissa to show up and not be dead…coma or something… Its happened in so many shows where someone appears to be dead but isnt…please let this be one of those cases. She didnt make the show…but she made it pretty damn interesting…she was there in the beginning and should be there till the end.

They shouldn’t have put the episodes 1 and 2 on the Internet BEFORE the episode actually airs because when perhaps someone has to choose between Greys and OC on Thursday night and he decides for OC and then the episode is on the net 1 week before then he thinks: Hmmmm I just gonna watch the oc on the net so I can watch Greys on Thursday night. This was a bad move from fox and they shouldn’t be surprised if the ratings are low (an they are).

Yes, tonight (Wednesday) is the Gringos, and Tomorrow is The Cold Turkey. I am SOOO sad that people are not watching. I thought the first episode was definitely different, but I still love the OC no matter WHAT! And, I read something that Mischa DID NOT want off the show. They brought it to her attention that they were gonna kill her off and she just agreed…she didn’t beg to be off the show, so don’t hate on her. This seems to be its last season and that devestates me. Everyone needs to watch tonight and tomorrow, but if they have more viewers tonight they said they are possibly gonna switch to Wednesday nights!

I have been watching to oc since day one. i use to revolve my whole night around this show and now i am just embarrassed of it. This show honestly sucks and is painful to watch. whats up with the guy shaving the other guys chest? someone might want to make those two start looking like brothers instead of lovers. the characters are so fake. the twins and tayler are way too over the top and bring cheesy to a whole new level. when i finished watching the show i was so mad at it that the only thing i could do about it was come online and tell everyone what a joke this show has become. someone needs to just pull the show so that the oc can be remembered for its better days.
i think the oc is amazing.. i watched the first episode and The Gringos already.. and i’m waiting for tonight’s episode of The COLD turkey .. this season is pretty good so far - -i thought it was gonna be worse.. but i disagree w/ that thought i had before.. its great so far.. and lastngiht i just flipped from Oth to Oc and it was alright.. but i don’t think that the oc will stay on wednesdays it will probably go back on thursdays =]

ok, everyone, the oc is an awesome show and i agree with all of you’s…i don’t want it to end either, but it is just a show and life will go on if it ends. for those of you saying the show sucks this season, get real! how many episodes of season four have you seen so far? watching the first 2 or 3 episodes and basing your opinion on that is stupid. haven’t you ever read the first chapter of a book or watched the first 10 minutes of a movie and thought it was going to suck but it actually turned out to be good? anyways, i’ll keep watching the o.c so i can say i gave it a chance and if people are claiming to be ex-fans ,because they don’t like the 4th season, they weren’t fans to begin with because if they were they wouldn’t give up on the show that easily. if you like the show, support it.

ok once i watched the first episode i was a little
disappointed but seeing as how i love the oc i HAD to keep watching. the last few episodes have been amazing and im getting really into it again.
if you dont like season 4 then why are you still talking about it? obviously you must like it to some extent or you wouldnt be on this site.

Well the O.C. rocks…. I watch so much t.v. that the O.C. is just one of the shows that I watch. It’s one of the best!!!!! OUT THERE!!! we have to admit it has competition coming up against grey’s and one tree hill if moved on Wednesdays. so in the long run fox needs to come up with something fast!!!!! if the want to keep the O.C. for another season.
There are lots of different plots Fox can play with. OK so if Fox has all these grate writers they how come the show has been droping? they need more writing ideas!!! So may be we should help!!!

how could they kill marissa and not show her funeral, they just want to forget her like that?! marissa has been an important character in oc and people loved to watch it because their was this lovely love story of ryan and marissa so thats why it sucks now. evreyone loved that couple and it tore my heart to see them end like this! hope they do something about this=(

this weeks episode is suposed to be good. I can’t wait!! The oc is by far the BEST show on tv these days. i like the time slot b/c i am still able to watch other shohws like CSI b/c here in canada they air the OC at 7:00pm and 9:00pm. I don’t know if that is the same in other places or not??

I love The OC just like everybody. But i do think that this season is kind of over rated because lets face it Marissa was the girl in the show that made this show dramatic and interesting, now that she died the shows not the same and the whole Ryan/Taylor thing is sooo nasty. Ryan/Marissa forever totally. The producer who had the brilliant idea of killing Marissa is a total dumbass! But the first 3 seasons were awesome and they should have kept going with more seasons without marissa dying but they should killed taylor or something. haha
