IGN TV Interview With Willa Holland

willa_bio.jpgIt seems Willa Holland is making herself very accessible these days to the media and is taking The OC fame in stride.  This time IGN TV caught up with her for an interview on The OC and life in general. Get a coke or some orange juice cause this interview is quite long.

IGN TV: Have you started filming the new season yet?

Holland: I actually start filming tomorrow morning.

IGN TV: Where is your character at and where is her mindset at, now that her sister has died?

Holland: I can’t give too much away. I can tell you that Kaitlin’s definitely reacting to this, to Marissa being gone, in her own different way. I can also tell you there will be a love interest; there’s going to be a little love story with her eventually.

IGN TV: What can you tell us about this guy and who he might be?

Holland: I’m not exactly sure yet, because I haven’t even read the character description. I don’t even know who it’s going to be or anything. But I know they want to go for maybe a bad boy to maybe put Caitlin under his bad wing.

IGN TV: Do you know how they are planning to split the stories, with you in high school, while the others have graduated?

Holland: It’s gonna be bouncing around a bit, back and forth. But it’s not like it’s going too fast or anything like that. I read it and it’s actually easy to go along with and develop. But also this season is going to be opening for a whole new audience, bringing me into it and making me more of a regular. Young people are going to be able to relate to what I’m going through, instead of Summer away at college or Seth and his… Sethness at 18.

IGN TV: He has a lot of Sethness.

Holland: There’s a lot of Sethness! There’s no other way to describe Seth other then Sethness.

IGN TV: Yeah, that’s not right.

Holland: It’s like, what the hell? I always want to meet him. Ugh, I gotta meet him someday.

IGN TV: How much interaction do you think your character will have with Ryan, Seth and Summer, especially since she doesn’t go to school with them anymore?

Holland: So far — I’ve only read the first two scripts — but so far, there’s a little beat here and there, just like there was last season. I mean, they all have the same family, friends and all that, so I guess it’s going to bounce back and forth a bit.

IGN TV: How is it working with Melinda Clarke? Her character is always certainly interesting…

Holland: Oh yeah!

IGN TV: Julie seems to have big reactions to what her kids are doing.

Holland: Melinda, Melinda, Melinda… I love her to death. She’s one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. Her character Julie is going through something of her own… Oh, definitely. It’s going to definitely be a new side of the show. A new side, and maybe even for the better side of the show.

IGN TV: Oh, really? Maybe this is going to help her turn over a new leaf a little bit?

Holland: Yeah.

IGN TV: I know you don’t want to give too much away, but would it be safe to say that maybe your character will go in another direction, if her mom’s maybe acting a little better or nicer?

Holland: [Smiles]. See… I don’t know… I probably can’t give too much away.

IGN TV: I understand. You’ve got to be careful!

Holland: I know. Can’t get fired! Exactly! I don’t want to give anything away for anybody. Oh, I’m so excited. I can not wait. Even though I have to wake up at 4:30am tomorrow [Wednesday], I can’t wait to be there Thursday. Oh yeah, definitely.

IGN TV: And is there still some good pop culture references flying around?

Holland: Of course! It’s The O.C.! It’s pop culture on its own.

IGN TV: I was just at Comic-Con, and I saw The O.C. “Atomic County” figurines.

Holland: Oh God!

IGN TV: Have you seen those?

Holland: No, I haven’t.

IGN TV: They’re pretty great. They’re little figurines of Seth’s comic book characters.

Holland: Oh my God…

IGN TV: Well, hopefully your character can get one too.

Holland: Oh, that would be awesome!

IGN TV: They were like $500 for the set, otherwise I would have bought them.

Holland: What?! Were they?

IGN TV: Yep, a limited edition.

Holland: Okay… Maybe I’ll make my way into them!
