It’s Go Time, Season 4 Is Here!

Today is the day folks, Season 4 kicks off tonight on Fox. I am sure alot of you have already watched the first episode via MySpace or Fox’s sites but if you have not than tune in tonight. I am making this post the official feedback place for Episode 1, so after the show or whenever you feel like it give us your thoughts on how the first episode of Season 4.
I also wanted to mention I have added Screenshots for Episodes 2 & 3 to The OC Gallery section. In episode two you will notice a certain Jackass cast member in one of the scenes with Seth. It was shocking to see him in this episode but he plays the part of a drunk Marine in Mexico to a tee. In the episode three screenshots you will notice Ryan holding a broken beer bottle to the neck of Volchok, will he go through with it? You will have to tune in to Episode three to find out.

My reaction to tonight episode, was as followed:
I was simply in awe. I don’t know if it was because I had just re watched Marissa’s death or if it was because the dramatic change that the o.c. has taken.
For myself, and this is merely my opinion… I am slowly losing hope. After the break we had after Marissa’s death, I’ve had a lot of time to calculate my opinion on things. I realize that this is only the first episode of season 4, and my judgement can’t be accurate untill I watch at least 8 episodes of the 16.
But, basing my opinion on the premiere of season 4, I was not pleased. Summer isn’t aggressive anymore, she is as Kelly said before me, mellow. Seth seems lost. Sandy and Kirsten both more boring then ever. And Ryan, slowly staying in the ‘Atwood’ way of things. Don’t get me wrong, I love this show to peices… but I’m afraid, to where this show is heading.
R.I.P Marissa Cooper…. you are already greatly missed.

yea but u cant blame her really. she still loves seth but her best friend died and going back to newport was hard on her, seeing seth and everyone else reminds her of marissa and the good times, seeing a flashback in her room, its tough.
ok i loved the show i watched it tonight for the first time cuz myspace sux and it not show up there!!! but ne ways… i was not thinking about watching this season but i watched it and it was good!!! the what i call Pre-show mislead me to think julie and ryan had something going on!!! omg it was awesome!!! i thought this season was going to be gay!!! but it was good… summer sux, i think summer and seth are over!!! i felt for julie i know she was “blone” already but they made her worse with all the drugs and stuff she takes!!! i am glad ryan is coming back!!! and do something about volceck it might calm things down!!! i cant wait till next week… i cryed the whole show!!! i miss marissa, the sad part was when summer did not want to go home and she did and saw marissa!!! i was crying more there… oh well thats some i got to say!!! ima keep watching it!!!
this show has definatly taken a darker turn from the previous seasons. and im interested but scared beacuse to me it seems like it could possibly be the last season of my favorite show. usually shows , even as good as the OC, go under after the kids go to college and/or a main charecter is killed off. its a completly differnt show this time around and i thnk it could go eather way. plus everytime i looked at ryan of julie i wanted to burst into tears
Ok so for anyone who has gone off to college and left with a relationship then you know what summer and seth are dealing with, for anyone who has not then what you saw tonight was a prime example.
I gotta say i really enjoyed tonights episode, think back to season one where the start was dark but not too dark to scare you away, i thiink it is a lot like that again. Im glad they didnt pick up right after the death because we know they would have screwed themselves over and this way they gave them self a little cushion because they now fully control the past and can make whatever they want pop up from those 5 months in between.
Ryan was as atwood as he has ever been, it was an awesome scene to start out the show because the mood was perfect and it really captured how ryan was right now, just a dark shadowy person with little light to guide him at the current times. And when he got in the cages to fight, damn good OC moment.
Julie is intresting right now, im curious to see where they take her.
Caitlin i couldnt care less about, her parts were a little boring but very marissa-ish with the whole i need boots line.

I am so glad marissa is dead. i cant wait for summer to move back to OC. i also think they are over doing it with giving back ryan his toughness. marissa you are not missed.
I loved this episode. I love that it’s dark, and you can see that Ryan still cares even if he doesn’t want to. I don’t like the fact that he didn’t attend Marissa’s funeral, and I really wish there would have been at least some flashbacks, but I like that Josh is making it clear that Julie and Ryan understand each other. I also feel bad for Summer, because she doesn’t know how to deal with what happened. That flashback she had was sad.
I hope Ryan kills Volcheck, even though I know he wont.
I thought the overall of the show was really good…although i kinda hated summer cuz shes pretty gay with her enviormental $hit and she was a bitch to Seth and i thought Ryan went over the line when he like pushed Seth and said “what are you gonna do, fight me too?”…i do understand that he is upset about Marisa’s death, he kind of went over the line. And i thought the show wasnt as dark as i thought it woukld be…it was like action mixed with sadness, with a hint of comedy…so well the OC is back…California here we come! i think we are off to a pretty good launch off into a new season!
Enjoy the season! and watch it even if you dont like it so there will be a season 5!
well i really pay attention to Ryan in this show…because i relate to him he is kinda like me…i look like him and i have the same attitude im kinda dark and punch people alot and i dno…i think this show is great

WOW! this episode was sad! i was like crying the who episode especially when ryan was looking at marissa’a tombstone! if he would of cried i would of been balling!! Summer is acting like a total bitch towards seth but who can blame her she is hurting!! I HOPE RYAN KILLS VOLCHAK!!! i hate him with a passion!! I thought that it was ironic that he chose the big guy to fight with, was it me or did anybody notice that he looked a little like volchak? That scene when summer looks into marissa’a room was really heart breaking!! I wonder whts up with taylor, i wonder why she is hiding? Well i can’t wait till next wks episode!! dont miss it!!
Great ep. Give Summer a break ppl. Her best friend died. When she goes back, it reminds her of that. She doesnt want to be reminded. She will be back. I’m sure. Great way to start the season.

I really enjoyed the episode. Wish Sandy and Kirstin got better storylines, but, I’m sure they will later. I only really teared up when Summer saw the “flashback” of Marissa. She really is having a hard time. I wish Kaitlin would show some sort of emotion about her sister. I hope poor Julie gets through it, I started rooting for her in the middle of season 3. I’m pissed with Dr. Roberts. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

But I don’t think that the relationship between seth and summer is over. Cause in the intro u see them hugging each other and kissing each other. I could be wrong but I hope that they will stay together. Looking forward to ep 2 The Gringos.

I know how everyone feels on The OC my first year in college I lost my best friend. There is nothing like that pain; when your hurting you want others to hurt as much as you do. I thought the show did a good job of portraying those emotions. But this show has away of having a strong beginning and ending, but everything in the middle is week. It happened with seasons two and three. I always thing its sad when writers mess with a good thing.
I just saw the Episode a few minutes ago… Yes, it’s better than I thougt but it was a little bit to sad. I mean nobody said the word Marissa, just the thing or after it happend. I almost cried. Poor Julie, Summer, Ryan, Jimmy and Kaitlin!!!

they have a confrontation, and then a long talk about that night which is heartbreaking and a powerful, emotional scene, ryan starts to tear up as well, after that volcheck is turned over to the authorities
They NEED to change the time or night, it can not compete with CSI Grey’s Anatomy.

Ok, people here we go… I agree with the overall sentiment posted and the feedback has been extremely positive from the faithful so let’s be proud of that. I thought the premiere last night was very good and I am pleased at the effort that is going into this season. Easy on Summer people, try and understand where the writers are going with this plot. Besides, Rachel Bilson’s marketability right now is the number one force driving the hype for this season from a business aspect. The show is still very appealing, but the time slot going head to head with Grey’s Anatomy and CSI is a big reason for the lower then hoped for viewing audience. We knew it would be an uphill battle. I don’t know why all these shows want to be on Thursday night anyway. All week there is nothing good to watch and then everyone has to compete on the same night. Grey’s Anatomy is riding a wave from their splash in the pool, but even so, that show could cool off a bit and novelty does fade. Look at Desperate House Wives, it was the hottest thing since sliced bread and now much of the fan fare has passed. The older audience is going to watch Grey’s and CSI when it is put head to head against The O.C. because it is more relatable to that demographic. Let’s face it; The O.C. is better off moving to a different day and time slot.
One decision this season was to target a younger audience by bringing Kaitlin back to Newport while continuing the story line of the older characters. Still, the show needs to hold onto a portion of its’ original audience that it started with. These folks should come back to the table if the program is aired against less competition and the viewers can count on some story lines that they can more easily relate to. Don’t blame The O.C. production staff for this one, they have done what was expected of them after season 3 and they are putting the effort into giving the fans a good product. You have to look at the network here and hope the guys with the white collars sitting upstairs make changes accordingly to get the most return on this franchise. Better placement of this show in the TV schedule should attract enough of an audience to sustain respectable ratings for the network. Let’s not wait too long to see we are matched up against a heavy hitter. Let’s also tip our hats to Grey’s Anatomy and give them their time in the sun. We’ve been there done that. Now the goal is to produce a reputable product that has enough substance to keep folks interested. I think the production staff is doing their part. Recently, they have been getting out the word “Grassroots” style to hype Season 4… myspace…fan sites… a lot of people already watched the season premiere online so perhaps the motivation to tune in would be greater if the episodes were shown on the web only after the original airdates and not before. We will have to wait and see. (I am prepared to go door to door with Mr. Schwartz if need be.) Continue the support but at the same time enjoy YOUR season 4 ahead. You asked for it and you got it, this fight has just begun!

well, I have to say that originally I wasnt goin to watch the OC b/c marissa was my favorite character. And it was really sad to see her go, but I thought about it …If you’re a true fan, then you will watch it through it all till the very last episode of the series finale. So I watched last night, and I really enjoyed it. Of course, it was sad…and a little weird that Marissa was no longer on the show…but I got use to it. It was sad to watch but it was well done! And I’m looking forward to see what happens next week.
The O.C. only 2.3/3- which was basically tied at last place with the CW.

I thought that the whole episode was so entirely SAD. Julie is so drug out from depression and Ryan dosent know what is going on he is blaming him self for ever lil thing that is and has gone wrong in the lives of his friends and family. And Kirstens new Car is SO NICE.

omg…the first episode of this season was sad but at the same time really good. i was expecting it to be horrible after the death of marissa…i love the show and i a huge fan…i can’t wait for the rest of the season
=( ratings sucked but we all saw it coming. i seriously think people would tune into the OC if it was on a different time slot. seriously, csi, greys anatomy and deal or no deal are like the top shows out there. if FOX cares about the OC and its fans than they would move the OC to a different slot, NOT FRIDAYS but another time or day, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hopefully in the new year they will change

while i was watching the premiere, it thought it was pretty boring since i thought all the characters had extremely changed. I knew they were bound to evolve since marissa’s death but not as much as they did. After i realised that the creators could not really start off with something huge since it was the first episode so im impatiently waiting for episode 2 to see what will happen and hope the awkardness between seth and summer will disappear… thats the part i hated most cuz summer is a whole other person now
I love the OC, I hope the ratings go up so we don’t lose this show. This is the only sitcom I have ever watched year after year. I miss Marissa and I feel horrible to everyone that was close to her, especially Ryan, Julie and Summer. I cried almost the entire episode. These actors are so good, they truely look like they are hurting. Please change the timeslot of this show so we do not lose it.

thoughts on summer : everyone is mad at summer for being weird toward seth and being a hippie but come on it makes sense they did it really well. Summer obviously doesnt want to be reminded of marissa and this is her way of coping. she has friends that are dif from her cause if she had friends like she used to have she would be thinking of marissa all the time.
thoughts on ryan : now everyone thinks its dumb that ryan was cage fighting… i was too at first but the epi shows that like he was doing it cause he thinks its his fault marissa is dead so hes getting beat up to make himself feel good. like hes punishing himself. then at the end hes starts thinking of volchek and get angry and is beat that guy up probs thinking of what hes gona do.
&seth is the same trying hard to be the best friend he can to ryan and summer cause seth wasnt all that close to marissa.
julie is perfect too.. cause really shes still her old self. &katlin is put in their well shes not taking over… yet. please dont have her take over!! shes still annoying.

i loved it. yes the show is a little different but you need that kind of change to avoid the repetitive story lines. it was really good though. as far as all the people who don’t like summer: chill, her BEST FRIEND just died! it’s her coping mechanism. it’s her way of distracting herself by isolating herself from her past and changing herself. i’m sure somehow the old summer will reemerge. but lets face it if you watch the pilot and then shows from season 3 summer has changed drastically in the time the show has been on. so give her a break!

I think everyone is missing Marissa. The ratings fell a lot for the episode, but I think they will improve once the show doesn’t have to compete with Grey’s Anatomy.

Okay, here’s what I think. I love the show. I wasn’t very worried after Marissa died, because it has some good writers, and all the other actors are just as good and just as important as Mischa’s was. I love Seasons 1-3, every single episode is nearly flawless. Yes, 3 was a bit boring, but I still loved it. I knew I’d watch season four holding my breath because of all the bad rep it got over the summer. The season premiere was definitely a let down. But the next two episodes were not only an improvement, but some of the best ones we’ve seen in quite a long time. I have faith that this will not be the last season. Every show has a transition year. This happens to be The OC’s transition. For Gilmore Girls, it was college first then losing its creater Amy Sherman-Palladino. Smallville killed off a key character (Clark’s dad) and it’s still holding on strong in the game. I don’t think ratings should be the only thing to look at. It’s still of quality, and since when is 2.6 million viewers small? I find it kind of humurous what is small in scale to other things. For a transition year like this, I think 2.6 million is really pretty good, especially for a non-cable channel. You have to keep that in mind, also. But I do agree that in order to bring back our larger audience, they need to change the time back to 8:00, like it was in the first two seasons, and beginning of the third season. And possibly switch it to Monday. Wednesday has “Lost”, Sunday has “Desperate Houswives”, Thursday has “CSI”, “Supernatural” and “Grey’s Anatamy”, and Tuesday has “Gilmore Girls.” No show lasts long on Fridays, and nobody would watch it if it were on Saturday. So I think a Monday night, 8:00 slot would be best. I hope this satisifies people.
Ei guyz… i just really want to say that i miss Marissa so much… she was one of the best character… hope that we’ll like the new oc - season 4
i loved the episode but one thing that i realized while watching this episode was that even though marissa is death because she was apparently very annoying 110% of the drama in this episode was too created by marissa. so the writers have achieved nothing and are now making summer very annoying i think they really need to leave marissa out of the show now because they killed her off. the episode was excellent it was really good and i never supported marissas death so when i watched that all the drama was created by her even though she was not alive this shows that the show is becoming weaker as it is now depending on a dead character. and i reallly miss marissa and i think the show is missinfg something too.

i agree with Michael for time slot ( except that i cant watch it but u kno there is this thing … its called a tape recorder… ) but thats the spot where itll last the longest. Another idea is tuesdays but not when the reality shows are on .. like american idol like i dont watch it but isnt that tuesday? they should have it after that. i vote for tuesday at 9 after gilmore girls. ( too bad we arnt actually voting….. ha)

Luk this is honestly v.annoying because I live in ENgland . I hav always loved the O.C i have watched all the episodes but really is takes the micky!
