Samaire Says OC Fame Was Surreal
Published December 26th, 2006 in General OC News.
Samaire Armstong recently gave an interview to a UK website Metro.co.uk about her time on The OC and how it affected her life in so many ways. It’s short but you get what she is trying to say.
Article:
Shooting to fame on The OC was “surreal”, according to Samaire Armstrong, one of the young stars of the US show.
The actress, who played Seth Cohen’s on-off girlfriend Anna Stern, said she “really didn’t grasp the concept of how large it was”.
The teen drama launched the careers of Mischa Barton, who played Marissa Cooper, Adam Brody, who starred as Seth, and Rachel Bilson, better known as Summer Roberts.
It has aired in more than 50 countries and won audiences of up to 10million an episode across the pond.
Samaire was initially cast for just one episode but was so popular she starred in a further 15.
“It was a really surreal experience,” said Samaire, now starring alongside Sharon Osbourne in new romantic comedy It’s A Boy Girl Thing.
“The reaction [to The OC] was really immediate. That’s the difference between film and TV - TV is more like theatre in that sense, the applause is right away, and in film, it takes a year.”
The 26-year-old American blonde, who also appeared in Entourage, said winning the role of Anna was a “turning point” which led to opportunities like her current film role.
“It was an amazing thing and I really didn’t grasp the concept of how large it was [but] I’m getting it,” she said.
It’s A Boy Girl Thing will be screened in UK cinemas from December 29.

Anna was soo great -she totaly had hair extentians though—lets see her at brown with summer and seth
Samaire is amazing and i totally loved her character anna. Combining anna and seth together was fantastic and hilarious. I love her line “Confience Cohen”…. and i’ve snatched it up and use it on my friends when their down. All the bests to Samaire and her future career opportunites. Loved her in Just my Luck by the way.
oops “Confidence Cohen”*……(spelling error my bad
I remember rooting for anna and not summer lol.
I always rooted for summer when it came down to who Seth really wanted to be with. It was obvious. He wanted her from the beginning. Thus, acknowledging his monologue in the episode The Heartbreak, telling summer that it’s always been her and she’s undeniable. My favorite episode, by the way. But I also agree that Anna contributed a lot to the molding of Seth’s character. “Confidence, Cohen.” Wonderful stuff. I hate she left the show in The Goodbye Girl. I actually cried. She really did mean a lot to Seth. I took delight in her being in two episodes of the third season. I really hope before the series finale, they show her again. In case one hasn’t noticed by now. I’m obsessed. I love the OC, it’s given me joy, entertainment, and great music to listen to, even Chrismakkuh music. (Seth’s a genius!!!)lol I absolutely love the OC and I would do anything for a fifth season, but perhaps all we OC lovers need to learn from the moral displayed in the episode Chrismakku-huh?: Sometimes, we have to learn to say goodbye
oh who am I kidding. I cried on a lot of OC episodes. Especially the first season finale, The Ties that Bind. I was holding up pretty good until it showed Kirsten taking the sheets off of Ryan’s bed. She sat down and started crying. Then Sandy came in to confort her. That broke me down.
comfort*
She was good. But summer “rachel bilson” i think is her name, was much better to keep in the story line. Any girls wanting to chat, add me, Trigga@hotmail.com, we can play oc trivia, J/K lol
