Melinda Clarke First To Land New Pilot
Published February 22nd, 2007 in General OC News.
Melinda Clarke has struck OC gold so to speak. She is first up to land a new pilot playing a Cop of all things alonside LL Cool J. Read the article below for full details.
Article:
The early cancellation of “The O.C.” may have been sad for viewers, but for the show’s stars, it meant a headstart on pilot casting season.
Melinda Clarke is the first current “O.C.” regular to secure a follow-up pilot gig, landing a lead role opposite LL Cool J in CBS’ drama “The Man.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clarke will play a touch, sexy policewoman, a colleague to LL Cool J’s undercover cop, who becomes a father to an orphaned boy. Jessica Collins (”The Nine”) was previously cast.
Clarke has spent the past four seasons vamping it up as the frequently married Julie Cooper on “The O.C.” She has also done recent duty on HBO’s “Entourage.” Before being welcomed to The O.C., Clarke was most familiar as Lady Heather from the original brand “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”
Which “O.C.” veteran will hop on the pilot train next? Stay tuned.

SCREW FOX WHAT A STUPID ENDING FOX SUCKS
wow……if this doesnt sound like another failed pilot.
fox is the epitemy of stupid,
they had a show which was soooo popular then hit a decline which was still a strong support of viewers, so they can what i reckon was a great season.
after watching the final episode, i just wanted sooo much to have another season.
damn you fox
OMG That Was fucking amazing 2 eps were the best bit confusing with 8 month gap in between but it worked where was taylor at the end i didnt see her, seth and summer married, sandy and kirstan, daughter, catlin, and them together for the graduation, ryan and the kid but i wanted taylor i loved her the most, u need to either start it again with like new charachters or sumfin, i dont get why it had to end u must of had enough money just for some shows, please why why why i miss it already
I CANT BELIEVE THIS!!! fox…. whyddd you do this!

I wish you well! I have really enjoyed the OC. My husband and I were very committed every Thursday night. Nothing went over my OC. I am going to miss all the cast. I am very saddened by the OC ending. Last night was a very emotional night because I felt very connected to each of you. I feel like I have lost my best friends. I am sorry to see each of you go.
anyone else have like an empty feeling in their stomache knowing that there really wont be another new episode. I felt so rushed last night almost unsatisfied. I feel like there is so much missing or like someone was holding down the >> button throughout the show. UGH just going to miss laughing at seth and seeing a somewhat normal family/life take place. I think we can all say that for those who watched the show its like having a small piece of life torn away
OMG………I want it to come back soooooooo bad. I all ready miss the show.. and the cast. Whoever decided to cancel it is just plain STUPID.
seriously, with all the people that love it and MISS it, why does it have to end?
and, yes, I do have this weird empty feeling in my stomache…..i didn’t think I would actually be like this, but it’s really weird
yeah for melinda….has any one seen the coming attractions for a movie with adam brody in it it looks good its called real women or something
It’s called in the land of women…yeah i can not wait till it comes out here in holland. I also cant wait for rachel bison’s and zach braff’s Last Kiss
sounds like it wont go far but csb generally has good shows. sounds like she can def do a part like this tho. i hope they keep on giving us info about new shows and movies these guys are in
yessss adams movie looks amazing (to jess’s comment)
&&to sahra, the last kiss is a rreally good movie if u like indie films. (otherwise u may think its weird or boring)
We will miss the show, and will be getting the dvd’s. I liked the way you ended it. And Adam, I like what you said to your fans. It isn’t your fault that the show is ending. Thanks Adam, you are a sweetie. Thanks to the rest of the cast for coming into our lives. We miss you and wish all of you the best in the future. Sherry and Holly
Instead of The OC ending why doesnt someone pull the plug on fox YOU BLOODY BASTARDS !!!
Fox is now wiped from my TV channel memory bye bye fox YOU BLOODY BASTARDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
melinda if you ever blog again you are sooo hott
Hey, i feel the same way, but i was quite dissapointed with the final ep, i thought they could have done alot better..n not rushed it so much…i wish that ryan would have like visited marissa’s grave to or something before he left that would have been good! i wish it could continue their is so many things that i feel need to be answered from finale lol…but it could be just me…i hope the CW does take it over they will do much better then FOX(jackass’s) n BRING BACK MARISSA
hahaha
i think that the oc should just leave it as it ended… i think that it was a great finale and i dont get the new cw and lots of other people dont as well.. so i think that they should leave it now.. they had a great ending and also i dont think the actors are really up for it anymore so i think it was a great ending and they should leave it at that!!!
‘The OC’ was not just entertainnment for young audiences. My wife and I are both retired and didn’t miss an episode. As professionals we thought there were some good and thoughtful psychological issues in the sub plots. But most of all it was emotionally entertaining. It was genious of you, FOX, to end while still riding reasonably high in the ratings.
Cud they have a new series called Ryan where they explore him and that kid and him giving him a break and seeing him grow like Ryan did
you know max that the only thing i agree with you on
The show was cancelled not only because of fox, but because of the fans stuck in their ways and not wanting the show to evolve after marissa had been killed off, rather than see the show grow, they boycotted the show altogether, thus meaning lower ratings and lower ratings means that it’s not worth them keeping the show going if not enough people are watching or if other shows are having better ratings. I think the show has been just as great without Marissa. And I also think that if the fans who thought marissa and ryan would be together forever, hadnt stopped watching the show in some kind of protest to bring her back from the dead, then maybe ‘The OC’ wouldnt of been cancelled at all!!!
Sadden is not the word!
FOX what is going on? I have liked Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, Party Of Five, The OC, all of which I watched every episode never missed one. I hate The Simpsons, The Show 24, King Of The Hill, Malclom in the Middle, War at Home American Dad.
I Mean being a parnet I want an entertaning show that has good values!!! Dose anyone know what Good Values are anymore?
Kristin (Kelly) and yes even Julie (Melinda) showed wonderful parnet skills except LUCK and JULIE that was a mess up but Damn he was SEXY and He did Come on the her!! But going through denile.
I miss it so much, my hubby even started to watch it with me and he hates Soaps. But we both enjoyed it.
What can we do to get them to pick it back up, I wish we could keep the same cast with out Adam as Seth and Ben as Ryan and of course Peter as Sandy, I need to see how much it pleases Sandy that Ryan has turned out to be an excellent person and the new baby gotta watch her grow up.
And there needs to be a wedding for Taylor and Ryan.
Summer could go because she just has become a disapointment to alot of Seth Lovers. Hed desrves someone to love that would maybe like his interests more then her own. Summer is only out for her happiness and dont really care if she hurts anyone. I know that has been is life love but she dont care like she use too.
For but I just dont want to watch FOX no moreand haven’t since fairwell to the OC.
What can we do to get it back……
There is always something.
Tabitha AKA Tabby
Good luck for the future Melinda (JUJU! as caleb called u!) but make sure u come back for the 5th season of the OC im praying this will happen and the FOX bosses will finally wake up. U were absolutly brilliant playing Julie Cooper! u had so many whacky sides to u which were terrific to see. The world will never forget Julie Cooper especially the terrified kids!!
It was a very interesting character.
One of my favourties!! Julie!!
if u want 2 bring the oc back just sighn there petition on www.fox.com/oc/savetheoc or just write or email fox if enough peple email or write to them they will definetly bring it bak
also if anyone wants any enough on stuff relating to the oc houses and were you can see the houses email me on snypex12@hotmail.com or go to www.seeing-stars.com and search oc
Tabitha, you obviously don’t understand very much about life or love. Summer wasn’t all for herself, she was for the betterment of her and Seth’s whole relationship. She obviously cares about him if she was willing to sacrifice her dreams to stay with Seth in Newport instead of going with GEORGE. And Seth was sad, but he was very proud of her, and in the end he was the one who pushed her to strive for her dreams. He was the one who told her she had to go work for GEORGE, for both of them. I think that the fact that we saw the Seth/Summer wedding in the finale really showed how much they loved each other, and not only that the time apart did them good, but it really made both of them happy to be able to achieve each of their dreams and still end up together afterwards.
I’ve read everyones comments here and I must say, I agree with lots of you. There are parts of me that wanna scream and be pissed off and call FOX idiots for canceling the show. For four years I never missed a Thursday, and like the rest of you, I now feel like a part of me is missing. I found it amazing for it to be possible for a person to feel this close and this connected to imaginary characters. But I was and I feel heartbroken every time I think about the fact that there will never again be any more shows. I own all four box sets, and I’m pretty sure I’ve watched them about 10 or 12 times through since the show has ended. I’m in OC withdrawl, but I still feel happy every time I watch Ryan and Marissa’s first kiss, or hear Something Pretty by Patrick Park when Seth is declaring his love to Summer on that coffee cart.
I’m also with all the people who loved Marissa Cooper. Lots of people didn’t like her, and was glad when she was gone, but I think those people just couldn’t look past her crying and wining to something there that was way deeper. She was a truly broken character, and it seems to me that she was doomed from the start. She seemed to have it all, but I believe that through her Josh and the writers showed how people aren’t always what they seem to be. I think her growth as a character over the course of the three seasons she was in was very well thought out, and amazing. She was my favorite character, and I wanted more then anyone to see her and Ryan together forever, but I think she left the show very gracefully. The thing that moved me most about her death scene and well actually her death in general, is that when I saw her lying in Ryan’s arms and I knew it was the end, I prayed that before she was gone they would reach out to one another and Marissa would whisper “I love you Ryan”. With those four words I would have found it much easier to let her go, but it wouldn’t have given the moment the intensity that it had. I think she died beautifully, and in true Marissa Cooper style. As much as I loved every second of her on the show, the fourth season was still incredibly good, and all you people who stopped watching the show just because of her, obviously didn’t get the point of her character from the start. Marissa Cooper was meant to make us fall in love and break our hearts, all in the exact same moment. Misha, you are truly amazing.
Then, on the other side of the spectrum, the other part of me, I’m glad that the show ended on such a high. It would have been terrible if it would have gone on and gotten boring (even though I’m sure I would have been faithful till the end), and ended with hardly anyone watching or even caring that it ended. Just look at any message board. All of you are so passionate, and care so much that the show is gone. They stopped it at a time when they knew that people would still care if it ended, and still hold fond memories of the show and the characters. All you hopefuls out there need to realize that it’s not coming back. It doesn’t matter how much support the show gets, it’s over now, and this is truly the end. Although I do believe a spin off show with Adam Broody is a possibility, and would be a really great show. As much as I hate the fact that the show is over, and if it had been my choice there would have been at least one more season, I believe the show ended at a very good time in everyones lives, even the viewers. I’m the same age as the characters are suppose to be in the show, so over the last four years I’ve gone through high school, and then experienced my first year of university with them every Thursday night, and for that hour each week they took my mind off life. Now as I feel like I’m more comfortable in my surroundings in my new school I realize that I’m more on my own then I have been in the past four years, and I’m happy to be experiencing some thing so new. I’ll continue to be sad each Thursday night, and nothing will ever fill that hour properly, but I’m glad that I loved the end as much as I loved the beginning.
Most questions were answered, and although it seemed a little rushed, the very last scene was how it needed to end. Ryan reaching out to another child, like Sandy had reached out to him. I think having the last shot of the entire show being of Ryan’s face was perfect, as it had all started with him. The finale was brilliant, with one exception:
JOSH, WHERES THE NANA?
Oh, and Melinda, good luck with this new pilot. You were an amazing contribution to the OC and I’m sure you wont give any less to this new show.
